Goodreads asked P.I. Barrington:

How do you get inspired to write?

P.I. Barrington You know, it's funny but that question pops up seemingly everywhere writers talk about writing. I was a newspaper journalist and photographer and I did not have time for "inspiration" to strike. I had deadlines and information to get out and learned how to meet those deadlines. Personally, I know that training helped me finish all my novels (excepting this last year) as soon as possible and how to finish a story rather than languishing over it for years or letting it languish. I've said before that while I would love to have a pre-writing ritual but I don't and I can't. I know what I need to do that day or know that I can't do it that day. Unless I'm struck by depression and insecurity I just sit down and write! Inspiration comes from everywhere, including boredom. You have to use everything around you.
