How do you get inspired to write?

Mike Michalowicz Through the entrepreneurs I interview and the companies I own. But specifically, it is the challenges in those businesses that inspire me to find the answers and then write about them.

For example, Profit First was inspired by the fact that almost every entrepreneur I know has a business that is just getting by - living check to check. This is true for startups and true for $10M companies. It was such a common theme (including in my own entrepreneurial endeavors) that I set out to find an answer. When I did, I tried it on myself and my friends companies. After years of testing and tweaking, I wrote the book.
