Inspiration can come from anywhere. I don't really do anything special. I'll see something that gives me the inkling of an idea, jot it down in my notebook, and either expand on it at a later time or nothing will ever come of it. When I'm in the planning stage, I've started using Blake Snyder's beat sheet method from Save the Cat, and it's helped me nail down some of the main beats of the story.
