This is less a question and more an observation. In Captain Vorpatril's Alliance, when ImpSec is sinking, Illyan comments that the people running out of the building probably grew up in earthquake country. Having grown up in earthquake country, the people who would be running out of a shaking building are everyone else. EQ country people won't even notice quakes that make non-EQ country people run out.?

Well, but Vorbarr Sultana is not earthquake country; such events there would be unusual and alarming even to earthquake veterans. Nonstandard details such as the plumbing and other connections ripping out of the walls as the building went down would likely also be attention-grabbers.
As the building is windowless, its inhabitants wouldn't have been treated to the sight of the earth rising up past their windows, but it has plenty of other monitoring to give alarm. Until that, too, was buried or borked as events magisterially proceeded.

This isn’t a ?, just a word of thanks. I was introduced to the Vorkosigan saga this June and today I finished Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen. Thank you so very much for creating this universe full of crazy, real, lovable characters! For the last 5 months your books brought me hours of joy but also made me think and question myself. A separate “thank you”for the latter.

How did Barryar not have a population crisis after the time of isolation with scads more women escaping to freedom in other places? It seems like you wouldn't have to be a mercenary to get away, there'd be a thriving human trafficking operation going on like in the former Soviet block countries where women would rather be prostitutes or mail order brides to men in less heinous countries than to stay where they are.

I wonder if you have ever dreamed about any of your characters? Have they or settings/places from your books ever "showed up" in a dream, in any context? Any examples of a character from the Vorkosigan saga interacting with a character from the 5 God series? Do you recall ever having a dream that helped you figure out a plot point or given you aid in your writing? Thank you so much for considering my question.
