Erika Robuck Goodreads is a very author friendly site. This will get you started: https://www.goodreads.com/author/program. I'd also recommend watching your favorite authors, seeing how they interact, and following some of their practices.

One tip my publisher gave me is to host a monthly giveaway. It brings readers to you, gets them to add your books to their To Read shelves, and keeps you engaged.
