M.J. Perry
M.J. Perry asked Michael Jecks:

I just read about your new book coming out. Thank you so much for creating a new mystery for my holidya reading. I guess I'm supposed to have a question for this space. What made you decide to go Tudor?

Michael Jecks I am very sorry not to have got back sooner. I am apparently no longer getting email notifications of questions. To answer your question, though: the period of Henry VIII is well covered, as is the reign of Elizabeth, but to my real surprise, no one seems to have written much about the reign of Bloody Mary. With a series in mind, that looked too good a chance to miss, so I started looking into her reign, and it has all the aspects I like - disturbances, angry mobs, religious persecutions ... what more could an author want? It also allowed me to write shorter books that were humorous, so I have been using them as a sort of relaxation between longer books. So far the existing two have proved very popular, and I've been commissioned for two more. I'm finishing one of them this month!
