Hi, and thanks for the question - and the short answer is, I've no idea why it's not appearing. It should do! The book is called DEATH COMES HOT, and it's been out for a while. You should be able to find it electronically or even as a paperback. And the good thing is, you can be the first to review it! Cheers!

Hmm ... that is very much the direction I'd be taking. There is already one outline based on Edward II's escape from Berkeley which needs completing, but for the future I'm thinking of much more local stories again and returning to Crediton or even Cadbury and Bickleigh is definitely on the cards. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the reply!!!
I'm very much enjoying re-reading them all. I admit the local stories are my favourites, although I did love them getting embro Thanks for the reply!!!

I know one of the books mentioned why Simon didn't want a knighthood, but do you think he's still of that mentality after all the help they gave the king? How do you think he'd go with his own demesne? (I admit, I'm having a giggle imagining the Despenser's reaction to Simon being given land and serfs...) ...more

Ah, well, Simon and Baldwin won't have to worry about Despenser - he's gone in one of the later books - King's Gold? I think Simon would still want to avoid knighthood. It's too expensive for him! He'll leave all that stuff to Baldwin.

I do - Baldwin would have been keen on chess, although it doesn't feature in my books!

Hi, Larysa, and thanks for the question. Neither, I'm afraid. Because he's in Devon, and dialect gets in the way of things (for example, Woolfardisworthy is pronounced "Woolsery"), you would actually say "Furns'ill"! Hope that helps!

Hi, Serafim - I am sorry, I only just found this message. Apologies for not answering sooner!
As far as I know, the only books published in Portugal are O Ultimo Templario, O Socio do Mercador, A Charneca do Enforcado and Os Assassinos de Crediton. Sadly, I think that financial problems prevented Bertrand from publishing more of my Templar series, but I hope that one day another publisher will take on the other 28 novels in the series!

I am very sorry not to have got back sooner. I am apparently no longer getting email notifications of questions. To answer your question, though: the period of Henry VIII is well covered, as is the reign of Elizabeth, but to my real surprise, no one seems to have written much about the reign of Bloody Mary. With a series in mind, that looked too good a chance to miss, so I started looking into her reign, and it has all the aspects I like - disturbances, angry mobs, religious persecutions ... what more could an author want? It also allowed me to write shorter books that were humorous, so I have been using them as a sort of relaxation between longer books. So far the existing two have proved very popular, and I've been commissioned for two more. I'm finishing one of them this month!

Apologies for not responding sooner. I appear to be failing to receive the emails notifying me of questions! The only advice I can give is, start writing a blog, creating YouTube videos, and anything else you can think of on Social Media. It is entirely up to the author to get their books talked about. However, it is horribly wasteful of your time, when you should be concentrating on the next book! Good luck!

Irritatingly, I never got notification about this question. However, I have been having problems logging into Goodreads occasionally, and now I'm using the link from Facebook to get straight in. Apologies for the delay in answering!

Hi, sorry, I haven't seen a recommendation from you. I love modern books - mostly thrillers, but definitely anything Canadian. Off now to see if I can find your recommendation.

Sorry for the delay - been off at workshops and things. Not at all, to be honest. I had the idea of Simon and Baldwin being very much products of their location. However, they evolved because I started using men like Bishop Stapeldon, and because he was actually a very powerful politician, Simon and Baldwin got drawn into things (pretty much against poor Baldwin's will!) and as the country sank further into the mire with the problems in the royal family, my lads were drawn into things more and more!

Hi, Amber - and yes. I intend to return to Baldwin and Simon before long, but it's going to be difficult to interest a publisher, I fear. I may well have to put out future Baldwin/Simon titles as ebooks or crowd fund their printing. In the meantime I'm also thinking of a new collection of shorts about Sir Richard de Welles (because that would be fun) and a follow up to ACT OF VENGEANCE. Hope that helps!

I firmly believe you have to work hard to succeed. If you want to make a living as a writer, it takes more than most jobs, because you have to live dependent on other people's work. It's the booksellers who make your living for you. So, authors have to be the creative spirits who invent stories, but also have to work at marketing, PR and all the other aspects. We have to be silent, hidden souls while writing, and then loud and gregarious the rest of the time. I have to concentrate like a lunatic while making up plots and characters, so I need to work hard in my spare time just to relax and get rid of those demons!

Hello, Brian. I am hoping that you have already seen the list of books available as audio on my website at MichaelJecks.co.uk/titles. The audio versions are listed with a gothic "A". I do need to try to push the missing books and get them to audio, and I'll speak to my agent later today about it. On sales in the US, all these should be available in the US as well as UK. Hope that helps!

Sorry - didn't get the notification in time on this one! Do please get in touch again if you'd like me to help. I'd be very happy to add comments or help in some other way. Apologies for the delay. I didn't get the email!

Most recent was Fields of Glory, and for that I had the twin inspirations of modern warfare and the brutality of war, along with Quartered Safe Out Here, an autobiography of a soldier in the Burma campaign. I wanted to look at the relationships between the men in a small platoon.

I love writing, but if I ever need inspiration, I look at my bank balance!

Just now, modern day police thriller set in Plymouth. Very gritty!

If you want to write, don't go to classes, don't sit and watch TV: just get some paper wherever you are and write. It's the only way to start!

Easily best is, organising my time how I want and then getting paid to daydream!

Writer's block doesn't affect me. I can't let it. Writing is a job, and you don't go to work and sit complaining you can't work that day. You sit and work!
