Courtney asked Jodi Meadows:

Before you came an author, did you ever feel that maybe you weren't good enough? That your books weren't going to be read by anybody?

Jodi Meadows I felt like that a lot of the time. I have a pile of rejections that looks more like a ream of paper. I'd written sixteen manuscripts that no one wanted. It made me feel sad a lot.

The summer before I wrote Incarnate, I was very, very depressed, and I'd decided to give up trying to get published. By the time I started Incarnate, I'd decided it was never going to happen, Incarnate would never be read by anyone, and I would write the book solely for me.

Imagine my surprise when that was my debut book.
