Left Behind
question
A Broad Discussion on the Series. . .

This is what I mean by "broad". . . I hope you will find this a HUGE oppurtunity to say whatever you will because I am keeping this question kind of vague. I will also give you my opinion. . .
Do you think the Left Behind Series can make you an improved or so called "better" Christian?
By better I mean more wise to what the bible says . . . but whatever your attitude is toward it (and the fact people are scared that it is 2012) to be love and not condemning in the way that someone I know seems to read it (person read it twice) and seems to be waiting for the world to "go to hell."
I think it is attitude.
If you have a good attitude and want to witness more while reading the book here and there (not book to book night by night! No. . .) I would say yes.
But there is how you take the stories. . .
This is only an example of how the world may end. It could be a lot different (and some are skeptical of the "rapture" part of it itself).
What do you guys all think. . ..?????? Questions/comments/answers. . .

No, the books don't and didn't have that much of an impact on me. I thought they were not intense enough and in some parts downright silly and boring.
I do not believe the rapture is any closer than it was 2000 years or so ago. I do not believe the tribulation is anycloser than it was 2000 or so years ago.
and what is it with rayford or whatever his name is... the dad i mean... his wife has just disappeared and what is one of the first thing he ups and does? well you guessed it... find another woman to cohabitate with. and what happens to his second or was it third wife when they get to heaven... why she or (them) become just a passing thought!!! I mean gimme a break!!! All hell has broken loose the world is literally going to hell in a hand basket and you are telling me - he couldn't keep his privates in his pants for a couple of months?!?!?!?(less)

I think it has potential to make you more knowledgeable about certain things. But there is a lot to be translated in the delivery. For example, God says that no one will know the date or the hour. So even Jesus or the angels in heaven do not know when God is planning. Which means to me that a pre-tribulation rapture will not happen. Only because if it did, you could set your clocks to when the end was coming.
There are also a lot of things that I do agree with. For me, like you, it did strengthen my faith and I did find myself witnessing more. So, I guess my long winded answer is yes. At least it made me a stronger Christian in the process of reading.

To be honest, while I did find some of the fiction cheesy (The whole Chloe and Buck thing is just ridiculous -- if they could get through the series without romantic entanglements, it would be great -- although unrealistic); the book made me think. About what I really believe. Why I believe it. What's REALLY going to happen (to me) on the day of the Rapture. It put Revelation into a real "light" for me...this could (and will) actually happen. Maybe not like the story suggests, but in a real manner. Any book that makes me think about spiritual matters is good.
I thought the entire series was great. I found it to be entertaining. But I think the importance of the books rest in the scriptural references. I am one of those Christians who believes what the bible says can be taken literally. There is just too many things from the book of Revelations that are running parallel to the world's current events to be coincidental for me. Does that mean I am scared. NO! rather I am encouraged. I do not worry if the rapture is coming soon or not. I KNOW who I am in Christ and I KNOW where I am going. So why worry.
I did enjoy the Book series and thought the books were well written.

Enjoyed all and did not read until April 2013 and just finished the 14th book yesterday. My minister (Baptist) advised reading and he and now I think this is very close to being exactly what the Bible says about the end of times. It did not scared because I am a believer of The Rapture and this is when I will go, I enjoyed the whole story line and the reference to the Bible made me understand Revelations much better.
I was impressed with the impact the series could have on the Christian's walk - good examples of how a Christian could react to the trails and tribulations of this life. I don't agree with the end times theology, but the books have a lot more to them than simply an attempt to try to get the reader to agree with the author's theology. We, as Christians, need to see how a victorious life is lived in the face of hardship and trails and I believe these books are faithful to that end.

You are right in saying that the books only depict "an example" of what the world may go through when it comes to an end. There are several possibilities. I think that this can either strengthen a Christian's beliefs and way of life - as it did mine - or bore a person to death. I've seen that.
Personnally, I think it helps a person to realize that they don't have that much time to waste. The Rapture/Tribulation period will come without any real warning. There will be signs, of course, but no one knows when
