Neither; what I care about most is the character study. The plot only exists to reveal new things to me about the characters, to supply a worthwhile road for their spiritual journeys. Ditto the setting, really. The readers are merely invited along for the ride. What they get out of it all will be to a large and non-controllable (and, I have observed, wildly varied) extent up to them.

I am suffering from Pen and Des deprivation. Sigh. So since I need to ask you a question, now in this period of your life, where you are hopefully enjoying the well deserved fruits of your labor, what sort of things have moved you to pick up a pen? (sounds better than go to the computer.)

Miles is famously allergic to fastpenta. In 'Shards of Honor' Cordelia seems to have a similar if milder reaction to the airborne sedative in the therapists office. Is that a genetic trait that got passed on to Miles? Any any relation to the haute ladies genetically engineered resistance to truth drugs?
