Wow… it has been so long. Life comes at you fast. Where to start? Maybe I’ll knock the dust off the typewriter and give it a go again.

Hey everyone! I've been out of touch for a while now but it's not because I want to be! I'm still writing as my time permits (and sometimes when it doesn't). (I'm actually working on a zombie novel... typical, right?) I'm still waiting to release The Transient (the head of the English department at my university has the book under review for about 8 months now...so I better follow up with her again.)

I'm graduating with my bachelors in December (finally) so make sure to RSVP =P.

I purchased a food truck and I'm steadily working on that project. It has been a lot of work but really fun too because I can be totally creative! I officially registered my LLC and, God-willing, I can launch in April or May 2018.

So, in between working full-time, six classes, and the start-up, I've had my hands full for some time now. I will try to be more active...

“I’m here for you” are
empty words when someone
is leaving

MRSA, C. diff.,
a secondary infection,
a ventilator in her throat,
congestive heart failure,
and a multitude of comorbidities
haven’t been kind to her

She is like a board because
the fluid of stiffening terror
has overfilled her body
and now leaks through
her eyes, dripping
down her soft, velvet face

The elderly woman peers
into me, whittling my core
Blindly staring,
she’s unable to ask the question
she already knows the answer to
My patient closes her eyes,
hard, and pauses for a moment,
like she’s trying to swallow,
or keep something from escaping
for just a little longer

She knows that behind an outfit
there is a person on the other side
and I know that purple gloves,
a gown,
and a mask
can’t save me from the inevitable


A hand reaches out and I grasp it
She stares, gripping me,
until I have to peel her away

Summer Dress


Sitting across the patio
is a seedless sunflower
wearing a thin summer dress
Her nectar is so sweet that
all the bees stare, hoping
for a chance to pollinate

I’d fly over beside her,
and lifting her skirt,
I’d spread her petals and
force I’d exert

But once done, I’d
smell my fingers and
walk away, and she’d
mean nothing to me,
and I’d still feel
alone, and
sterile
