Book 3 of the Bitter Memories Series

Have been working as much as time allows on the next book in this series.

Made it to the last chapter, but nearing the end, the story took on a life of its own. Although exciting, is was an unexpected turn.

However, I did finish that one last night, and am again trying to write the last chapter...see what happens this time...

Will it get finished? Or, will there be another surprise hidden inside my head?

Stay tuned...Cutter's Revenge is in the works!

Bitter Memories is an emotional, unforgettable ride while bringing light to the extremes of child abuse and the will to survive. Will Sarah carry the scars with her for the rest of her life?

Sarah is a little girl living with extreme child abuse when all of a sudden she’s missing huge gaps in time. She doesn’t understand she’s having blackouts; that other personalities are living her life for her...

In terrifying nightmares she sees kids who look similar to her, but at different ages. Kids taking the abuse meant for her! When she gets a little older she starts thinking she’s crazy...

Trophy Murders, Book 2 -- A TOWN TERRORIZED…THE FAMILY SECRETS…YEARS OF LIES UNFOLDING…

Munday, Texas: A quiet, peaceful little town turned upside-down when friends and neighbors are being brutally murdered in their own homes, many in their own beds...

Their new police chief, Henry Frye, knows in his gut it’s the gang of hoodlums who moved into the big house on the hill, but he has no proof...

All he wanted when he accepted the job was to move his family to a nice small town and raise Sarah, his niece, in a safe place, hoping his wife would come to love Sarah and be a good mother for her. But, his wife hates the little girl and takes her anger out on innocent little Sarah ever chance she gets...

Sarah, has problems at school while trying to deal with the aunt who hates her, and she’s still having terrifying nightmares...

Henry, missing the mistress he’d left behind, is dealing with murders all over town, but Sarah’s nightmares sends him into the arms of his mistress, and to San Quentin prison where he hopes to find answers that have been bothering him since the day Sarah returned home after the six-year kidnapping by her father; hoping he can live with the answers he hears...

Cutter’s Revenge, Book 3 -- HAUNTING MEMORIES…SECRETS…LIES…A SERIAL KILLER STALKING…

A book that will keep you on the edge of your chair listening for things that go bump in the night! PURE EVIL LIVES HERE.

The last of the bitter memories series introduces a man believing he has amnesia, when in reality he's suffering from a multiple personality disorder...

Henry Frye is at his wits end after numerous men and women vanish from small area towns, then one of his own officers’ turns up missing...

He fears his days as police chief are nearing an end; that the town has lost faith in him...he’s already had so many of his townsfolk murdered, and now, what appears to be another serial killer in the mist...

He doesn’t know the serial killer will soon be stalking his own backyard...

At least things are getting better with his niece Sarah, or so he thinks. With a new mistress in his life, he has buried his head in the sand; avoids going home unless absolutely necessary; afraid of what he might learn if he does go home...

But, when years of lies from the past threaten to destroy him, he returns to where he scattered his dead mistress’s ashes and talks to her, knowing he has to talk to Sarah; praying she can forgive him when she learns the truth...

NOTE: Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival is NOT a cozy, feel-good book. It's a true story of extreme child abuse and my struggle to survive. It contains adult language and explicit sexual content, but it was my life.

HEARTACHE & SURVIVAL

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival (non-fiction) is written like a novel for easy reading, as I tell the true story of my life after being kidnapped by my father, then living a life on the run, hungry, abused and terrified ... so terrified that I split into multiple personalities … a truly unforgettable, unnerving story of extreme child abuse and my fight to survive…
NOTE: Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival is NOT a cozy, feel-good book. It is a true story of extreme child abuse and my struggle to survive. It contains adult language and heartbreaking graphic content, however, it was my life.

Trophy Murders (creative non-fiction/crime fiction) mixes fiction with truth for an action-packed crime story as I take you further on the journey of true events after going to live with Uncle Henry (the cop) and his heavy-handed wife, Olivia. A life I wouldn’t wish on any kid … Problems at school, continued nightmares from my past, and a narrow-minded, bigoted Olivia, brings me to a dangerous low in my life … After a gang moves into the house on the hill and a murdering spree begins, Police Chief Henry Frye (my uncle) is asking himself how many must die before he catches the ones responsible for turning our quiet, peaceful town into a place of terror … Still trying to hide his own secrets and lies, Uncle Henry is afraid if I find out the truth it will destroy me ...
Note: Currently doing a rewrite to update part of this story. New version will be revised to the E-book soon; paperback later this year.

Cutter's Revenge (creative non-fiction/psychological thriller/crime fiction) mixes about five percent truth with fiction, however, anyone who’s read the other two books will know truth from fiction instantly. Using many of the same characters, I introduce new characters — many you’ll love, some you’ll love to hate … While another serial killer, maybe more ruthless than the gang of killers in the last book, stalks our little town, I continue my story after my adoption, leaning more toward the way my life could have been IF .… turning tragedy into a fantastic and exciting read with a happy ending!

From The Heart (non-fiction) is a collection of fifteen poems from events in my life including short stories that inspired the writing of each poem. Starting with my first poem written at age nine after the death of my mother, I expose feelings never shared before … Also available in audio with Beth MacEwan narrating, From The Heart is not only inspirational but truly awesome hearing my words spoken. Beth did an amazing job bringing life to each poem and story.

All my books are based on or from actual events in my life, however, Trophy Murders and Cutter's Revenge are part truth, part fiction.

ENTER MY WORLD—IF YOU DARE!

My first book in the bitter memories trilogy, Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival, is where I talk about my life after being kidnapped by my father.

I was only three years old when my life changed, forever.

Although this isn’t a fun book to read, it was my life. I wrote my story, not only to further my own healing from the scars of abuse, but to help other survivors still suffering from their pain. To date, my book has helped many survivors find a path toward healing.

My story is about extreme child abuse, but it doesn’t take extreme to mess up a kid’s head. It doesn’t take extreme to push a child over the breaking point where they think about, or even take their own life.

However, it doesn’t have to be this way! I was lucky to have survived at all, as you will learn when you read my story, but I was also lucky that I didn’t have to go through the pain and suffering alone.

I ended up with four “angels” to help me. Taking over my mind and body, theses four personalities took the abuse that was meant for me. For years I was afraid to talk about what happened to me. I was afraid what people would say.

And, some may still call me “crazy” but I wasn’t crazy at all, and I’m not crazy now! Multiple personalities do exist, and in my head they were very real. There is no doubt in my mind that without my “angels” I would have died. They protected me time and time again.

Abuse from my own father is what brought out, Ann, my first personality. As the abuse escalated, others were “born” and Ann became the guardian, a protector, not only for me, but for my other three personalities as well.

My story is extremely graphic and the language could put a sailor to shame, but there is no way to “sugarcoat” child abuse. There was no way for me to tell my own story without using the language I was hearing every day of my young life.

I probably could have written it without all the details, but why hide the facts? I set out to tell my story, my way, and while writing this book, many times I felt like I was in a trance. I wrote from the heart, not from my head, and many times I wrote from the heart of the child, exposing how I actually felt at the time.

Plagued by horrendous nightmares since I was a little girl, I used those terrifying times to help me tell my story and wrote what I believe is the actual truth of what all happened from the time I was two years old until finally found by the FBI and then rescued by my mother, a woman I no longer remembered.

From this first book came two more books in the series: Trophy Murders and Cutter’s Revenge. These books continue my story while living with the cop uncle and his wife all the way through my adoption. Although there’s more that could be told—and at a later date will be told—these three are a good start.

Trophy Murders is part truth, part fiction, but while I continue my own story, I give my uncle a job to do. He has to catch a ruthless gang of killers and bring our once peaceful, quiet little town back to tranquility.

Cutter’s Revenge is part truth, but there is more fiction in this one as
I continue my story. This book is written more the way I wished, or dreamed, my life could have been IF...

Getting my pound of “revenge” in the end, again, my uncle/father has a killer to bring down while trying to keep his own secrets from me—secrets he’s afraid will destroy me if I learn the truth. New characters are introduced; some you’ll love, some you’ll love to hate, but I hope you enjoy this exciting, pulse-pounding thriller as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I look forward to you taking this journey with me as I bring to light the horrors in this gripping account of my early life—a life on the run, hungry, terrified and abused—and then continue the journey by reading the other two books in this series.

After reading Bitter Memories you’ll know what’s true and what’s pure imagination in the other books, but I promise you a ride into every emotion possible by the time you’ve read all three of these books.

Enter my world—if you dare!

Excerpts from the Bitter Memories Series

Several blog posts back I left it hanging if there would be a Book 4 in this series with a "maybe"...well, I can answer that now. YES! There will be another book in this series coming as soon as I have the time to write it. But, don't look for it until late next year, at least.

Excerpts:

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival

Finally, appearing exhausted, she stormed out of my room, and I thought the punishment had ended. Crying, I help my stomach where she'd hit me so many times, whispering, "Daddy, where are you? I need you, Daddy. I need you. Please come back and save me."
Still mumbling to myself, the door flew open...

Trophy Murders (Book 2)

"The Arizona cops said blood was everywhere, and the mutilation, the worst they'd ever seen. The perp took an axe, decapitated her, chopped off her hands and feet, then took a butcher knife, slashed her face, cut off her breasts, then filleted her from neck down. Both weapons were left close to the body, but wiped clean."

Cutter's Revenge (Book 3)

...I saw Daddy had blood on his hands. I questioned him about it, but he said he killed a mouse in the bedroom. I believed him, then. It wasn't until years later that I started having nightmares. In these nightmares I saw many women covered in blood, beaten beyond recognition...

MEMORIES - TROPHIES - REVENGE

A few things you may or may not know:

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival, the first in the “bitter memories” series, was 40+ years writing. It was as hard, if not harder, to write than it is to read, but it is a story that needed to be told. No one likes to admit children are abused, but they are. Child abuse is a national epidemic and the only way to put an end to the abuse is by me, and many more like me, telling our stories so more and more people will be aware of child abuse and the symptoms a child shows when they have been abused. I appreciate everyone who has read, and everyone who will read, my books. Through awareness and others spreading the word can we bring an end to other children being abused. As a survivor of extreme child abuse, and it doesn’t take extreme to mess up a kid’s head, I need as many caring souls as I can find to help save other kids from the scars of abuse — from a life similar to what I endured. The book contains adult language that will put a sailor to shame and graphic adult content.

Trophy Murders, second in the series, started out to be more of a short story about “trophies” of catfish heads stuck on a post. However, it soon took off in another direction, giving focus to a gang of serial killers wreaking havoc on a small Texas town. My story continues in this book as I struggle with recurring nightmares and problems at school, while still trying to cope with my past plus my controlling “beat the meanness out of her” aunt. It seems most everyone doesn’t want to be friends with a kid whose uncle is a cop (true), but in this book he’s not just a cop. He’s the chief of police who happens to be keeping his own secrets about many things, including the truth about my mother’s death. Throughout the book some of these secrets are revealed, throwing in different kinds of “trophies” and a fiery car crash for one heck of a ride.

Cutter’s Revenge, third in the series, brings a man believing he has amnesia, a sadistic serial killer, and more secrets revealed. This book was fun to write while it provided me with the perfect opportunity to get “revenge” against at least one or two people who made my life hell. Although pure fiction on the revenge it does make for a pulse-pounding thriller, bringing closure to this part of my life in a way that is pleasing, not only to me, but also my readers. Be ready for sit-on-the-edge-of-the-chair excitement, listening for strange noises and things that go bump in the night. Enter Cutter’s world — If you dare!

Book 4 in the series is untitled because it is yet to be written. However, I expect, like the other three books in this series, this book will take on a life of its own before finished as I delve more into my involvement with my mother’s alcoholic sister and also my big brother who, in the other books I had not yet met. I don’t work from an outline, and since I sure don’t plan ahead what’s going to be written, this is all I can tell for now. As events come to me, I write.

From The Heart: A Collection of Poems and Stories, is a book written from low points in my life while searching for peace. It seems I can’t write poetry unless depressed, but the poems are thoughtful, not depressing. They are actual feelings from these times with short stories about what inspired each poem. Truly written “from the heart” I expose feelings never shared with another person until this book. Also available in audio — and to hear my written words spoken by Beth MacEwan who narrated — is totally awesome! I highly recommend the audio for a breathtaking experience.

You can find all these books on my website with links to order from Amazon, plus a “like” button for Facebook to click on, too! Please stop by and have a look around.

Uncensored Memories

NOTE: Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival is NOT a cozy, feel-good book. It is a true story of extreme child abuse and my struggle to survive. It contains adult language to put a sailor to shame and heartbreaking graphic content. This story was my life.

Although unnerving, Bitter Memories is a gripping account of the extremes a child can undergo—and survive. Written from the heart, taking on a life of its own, I relived those memories of heartache, sadness, extreme hunger, and intense fear in hopes of helping other adult survivors find a path toward healing their “hidden” scars.

My story deals with explosive topics that former child victims of mental, physical, and sexual violence will understand, but in order to help other child abuse survivors I had to tell my story, uncensored.

I had to talk about all those bad things that happened to me as a child after being kidnapped by my father, living a life on the run, hungry, abused, and terrified.

While writing this book I had to actually relive years of feelings and all the sorrow felt so I could deal with my own heartbreaking, painful memories that had kept me in a mental prison of hell for so long.

I managed to do it because I am a survivor! From this book came three more in the series, listed below with a very short bit about each one.

I am currently working on the fourth in the series; dedicating book four to my brother.

Book 1 - non-fiction:
Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival is the true story of my life after being kidnapped by my father, then for six years living a life on the run, hungry, abused and terrified...so terrified that I split into multiple personalities in order to survive...strong adult language and content. VERY graphic!

Book 2 - creative non-fiction/crime fiction:
Trophy Murders delves into my vivid “where did that come from” imagination to deliver an action-packed crime story about a gang of serial killers; mixing in more truth as I continue the journey after going to live with Uncle Henry (the cop) and his heavy-handed wife, Olivia. A life, by the way, I wouldn’t wish on any kid!

Book 3 - psychological thriller/crime fiction:
Cutter’s Revenge brings a man believing he has amnesia, a sadistic serial killer, and more secrets revealed. This book was fun to write while it provided me with the perfect opportunity to get “revenge” against a few who made my life hell. Mixing truth with a ton of suspense to get the heart racing, my imagination runs as rampant as the stalking serial killer bringing terror around every turn! Although pure fiction on the revenge it does make for a pulse-pounding, sit-on-the-edge-of-the-chair thriller. You’ll be listening for strange noises and things that go bump in the night should you — Enter Cutter’s World...

Trophy Murders and Cutter's Revenge are loaded with action, suspense, drama, secrets, a love story, and so much more. And, my fictional crimes are a bit twisted and sadistic. I hope you’ll enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing these two books.

Book 4 - memoir (currently being written)
After Midnight is the title I've decided on. This book continues parts of my story left out from the other books in the bitter memories series, and I expect, like the other three books, this one will also take on a life of its own before finished. After Midnight delves more into my involvement with my mother’s alcoholic sister and also my big brother who, in the other books I had not yet met. This is all I can tell until finished.

Book 5 - non-fiction (not part of the bitter memories series)
From The Heart: A Collection of Poems and Stories, is a book written from low points in my life while searching for peace. It seems I can’t write poetry unless depressed, but my poems are thoughtful, not depressing. They are actual feelings from these times with short stories about what inspired each poem. Truly written “from the heart” I expose feelings never shared with another person until this book. Also available in audio. To hear my written words spoken by Beth MacEwan who narrated is totally awesome! I highly recommend the audio for a breathtaking experience.

Excerpt From Book 1 in the Series

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival:

It was late in the day when Janet came into my room, jerking me out of sleep. Grabbing my hair, she pulled me outside and over to the big tree.

"Since you like this fuckin' tree so much, you can eat its dirt!"

She shoved my head into a hole she'd dug near the trunk, holding the back of my head and neck tightly. The grit clawed at my face as I struggled against her grip. The damp, musty smell of the dirt pulled the breath out of me.

Trapped, unable to escape, my lungs screamed for air...

Next blog will be an excerpt from Trophy Murders, Book 2 where I continue my story after going to live with Uncle Henry (a cop) and his heavy-handed wife, Olivia. A life, by the way, I wouldn’t wish on any kid. Trophy Murders also includes an action-packed crime story about a gang of serial killers (straight from my vivid imagination) as my uncle tries to bring solace back to our small little town.

To learn more about my story of surviving extreme child abuse, the other two books in this series, and also my book of poetry, please visit my website. Currently working on the 4th in the series.
