FROM THE HEART

From The Heart is a book of fifteen poems, exposing feelings never shared before. It also includes stories behind what inspired each poem in this book to be written.

If you’ve read Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival and the other two books in this series, then you already know my story, and you’ll recognize several poems from that time in my life.

If you haven't read my other books yet, to learn the full story, you’ll just have to read the bitter memories trilogy.

For so many years my life was a living hell on earth, but here's one of the poems in FROM THE HEART written after I'd gone on a three-day retreat. This was when my life began to improve, but I still had a long way to go before I found true peace. Enjoy!

THE BRIDGE TO LIFE

I knew one day I would find a place
A place where all fears would fade away.
I spent my entire life trying to hide
Trying clever ways, I thought, to conceal
Afraid to let anyone see the real me.

I knew one day I would find a place
A place to build a bridge to You.
I was looking for a road or a path
A narrow road to love, to strength
A path to understanding.
I knew one day I would find a place
A place of sparkling waters.
There’s been so much missing in my life
I want to let love enter in
I no longer want to go it alone.

Did I let it just happen?
Or, did someone bring me here?
This place of peace and contentment
The place to build a bridge to You.
Never to go alone again, or, in fear.

I have found the place I looked for
The place to let my feelings free.
A place to let God enter in
With His love, His strength
His understanding.

I hope you'll get a copy of FROM THE HEART and take a short walk back in time with me. Or, get the audio version; sit back, relax, and listen as Beth MacEwan narrates.

I personally was totally blown away when I first heard Beth bringing life to my simple words, speaking with all the passion I felt during the writing.
The audiobook is truly awesome!

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival

A True Story of a little girl (me) kidnapped at 3 years old...

Please visit my website to learn more about the bitter memories trilogy, and my other book, From The Heart a Collection of Poems and Stories.

NOTE: This is not a cozy, feel-good book. It's a true story of extreme child abuse and the will to survive. Strong language, heart-wrenching content!

LITTLE GIRL LOST (part 3)

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival
True Story of a little girl (me) kidnapped by her father...

Constantly on the road day and night, I hadn't had anything to eat since we'd left home, and that had been several days ago. I was so hungry my stomach hurt.

Daddy was still acting very strange, but he kept telling me to go back to sleep and we'd get something to eat when we got to a town.

When I awoke to find the car not moving, I sat up to look around and I saw Daddy...

Please visit my website to learn more about the bitter memories trilogy, and my poetry book, From The Heart, also based on events in my life, that includes short stories that inspired the writing of each poem. From The Heart is also available in audio. You can listen to a preview at Amazon — it is awesome!

LITTLE GIRL LOST (part 7)

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival
True Story of a little girl (me) kidnapped by her father...

Excerpt:
The sound of his heavy breathing roared in my ears. I was so scared and so confused. I'd never felt so frightened in my whole life! Then my head began to spin and I felt faint, like I was floating, and a soft voice, a comforting voice, whispered in my head...

Other books in this series:
Trophy Murders combines truth with fiction for an action-packed crime story while delving more into my life after going to live with my mother's brother, Henry (the cop) and his heavy-handed wife, Olivia.

Cutter's Revenge, again mixing truth with fiction, continues my story after being adopted. While another serial killer stalks our little town, I'm living a dream as I write my story's ending the way I wished it could have been.

All my books are based on or from events in my life and have received 4 and 5 star reviews. Books are wonderful gifts, and any or all of my books would be a great gift this Christmas.

NOTE: Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival is not a cozy, feel-good book. It's a true story of extreme child abuse and the will to survive. It contains strong language and heart-wrenching content. Trophy Murders and Cutter's Revenge has the raw language toned down, a lot, and are an excellent read.

LITTLE GIRL LOST (part 8)

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival
True Story of a little girl (me) kidnapped by her father...

I don't know how long it had been since Daddy had taken me from my bed in the middle of the night, but we'd been on the road for a long time when Daddy told me he'd show me how to get anything we wanted, without money.

Hearing his plan, I didn't want to do it, but I had no choice! Daddy said if I didn't do as he said I wouldn't get to eat...

Other books in this series:
Trophy Murders combines truth with fiction in an action-packed crime story while delving more into my life after going to live with Uncle Henry (the cop) and his heavy-handed wife, Olivia.

Cutter's Revenge, again mixes truth with fiction as I continue my story after being adopted. While another serial killer stalks our little town, I'm living a dream as I write my story's ending the way I wished it could have been.

BITTER MEMORIES, the LIES (part 2)

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival
True Story of a little girl (me) kidnapped by her father, living a life on the run, hungry, abused and terrified...

We stayed with lots of different women while on the run, but this one particular night still stands out in my memories. Daddy had a fight with the woman we were staying with before they went to bed.

During the night I heard a scream that woke me. I’d gone to sleep with the TV on so I assumed the scream came from there, but not long after that scream Daddy came out of the bedroom with a strange look on his face.

He told me to get up and get ready to leave, but he had blood on his hand. I asked him about it, and he said he’d killed a mouse in the bedroom…

Other books in this series — creative non-fiction/crime fiction:
Trophy Murders is not only an action-packed pure fiction crime story, but I take you deeper into the journey of true events after going to live with Uncle Henry (the cop) and his heavy-handed wife, Olivia. A life I wouldn’t wish on any kid!

Cutter's Revenge continues my story after my adoption. While another fictionalized serial killer stalks our little town, I write my story the way it could have been if...turning my life into a fantastic, exciting, and happy ending!

My Newest Book — non-fiction:
From The Heart is a collection of fifteen poems written from events in my life, including short stories that inspired the writing of each poem. This book is also available in audio with Beth MacEwan narrating. She did a fantastic job bringing life to each poem and story. It is awesome!

It contains strong language and heartbreaking content, but it was my life. The language is toned down in the other books in this trilogy, and the abuse isn't nearly as intense or as often.

BITTER MEMORIES, the LIES (part 3)

Bitter Memories: A Memoir of Heartache & Survival
True Story of a little girl (me) kidnapped by her father, living a life on the run, hungry, abused and terrified...

I don’t even know if Daddy knew how to tell the truth. His whole life consisted of one lie after the other, but two of the biggest lies told to me were:
1) I’ll never hurt you
2) I’ll never leave you
Daddy did both of these, many, many times.

Of course, the first time he hurt me was by kidnapping me, but compared to the other hurts over the years, the kidnapping was nothing! He hurt me by yelling at me, something he never did until after the kidnapping, and he backhanded me a few times, also something he’d never done to me before running off with me.

He knocked Mama around, a lot, but with me, the few months before he took me from my bed in the middle of the night, he just acted like he hated me…like he wished I’d never been born. That hurt, deeply, but even that didn’t hurt as much as what happened the time we stopped at a motel…

It contains strong language and heartbreaking content, but it was my life. The language is toned down in the other books in this trilogy, and the abuse isn't nearly as intense or as often, and tossing in the serial killers does make for a very exciting (even a bit twisted and sadistic) read.

All these books are based on or from events in my life and have received 4 and 5 star reviews. If you still need a gift this Christmas, or would just like a new read for yourself, please consider one or all of my books. Thanks, and Enjoy!
