Drowning In Memories, Part 2: Crouching in the darkest corner of my room, not wanting to look but unable to detach my gaze, reluctantly, I watch in numbed horror.
Trembling, unable to move, I listen to the clock on the wall. With each vulgar sounding tick…tick…tick…my body stiffens. My mind is reeling, my heart pumps spastically. Panic sets in as the illuminated hand snaps off another minute.
Tick…tick…tick…I barely notice the beads of perspiration trickling down the back of my neck. I hold my breath and push my back tightly against the wall behind me.
Two more minutes…tick…tick…tick…
Nothing good ever happens after midnight…
Trophy Murders (for my fiction fans): Henry keyed the mike: “Eric, they’re heading your way! Park your cruiser across the road, blocking them, then stay out of sight. O’Malley and I are behind them.”
Eric Flynn parked his car to block the narrow road, then ran into the thicket of trees to wait. Either the perps would stop, or they’d crash into his cruiser. The only other escape was down. One hundred feet straight down the side of the hill.
Eric spotted the headlights come around the curve...
Cutter's Revenge: Slipping into his black silk shirt he took reverence in his perfect body. Rock-hard. Sculpted. He could easily have any woman he wanted, and tonight, like hundreds of nights before, he prepared for the hunt.
His next victim waited...
Bitter Memories and Drowning In Memories are non-fiction; Trophy Murders is creative non-fiction/crime fiction, and Cutter’s Revenge is a psychological thriller, with only about five percent actual truth.
The majority of Cutter’s story is my way of bringing out what could have been the actual truth in some cases, but closer to bringing “truth” out the way I wanted, or wished, it could have been.
I enjoyed writing Cutter’s Revenge, allowing myself to enter a world of sweet revenge toward several people who’d hurt me in the past. My readers also gain a bit of revenge for themselves, taking some of the sting out of the many feelings they felt in Bitter Memories.
Enjoy!
